SgtMaj Ruiz, 20th SMMC Speaks About Tribe & Mindset | Left Right Left Podcast

This morning, we welcome the 20th Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps, Carlos A. Ruiz, for a sit down over a cup of coffee where he speaks about the Corps, his focus on people & where help is needed with junior leaders and the veteran community. Sergeant Major Ruiz assumed his current post as the 20th Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps on August 10, 2023. A native of Sonora, Mexico, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on November 2, 1993, out of Buckeye, Arizona. During his 32 years of service has served as a canvassing recruiter, drill instructor, served numerous combat tours and throughout every element of the Marine Air Ground Task Force. Sergeant Major Ruiz's personal awards include the Legion of Merit with gold star, Bronze Star Medal with combat distinguishing device, Meritorious Service Medal with gold star, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with one gold star, and the Combat Action Ribbon with one gold star. He has earned a bachelor's degree in organizational management from the University of Arizona Global Campus.
